The A.B. of F.B. Case Bound Book

This beautiful case bound book was produced in a limited run of just five copies. Featuring a cover wrapped in Real Grey Buckram Embossed Colorplan, it’s printed with the addition of white ink to underpin the photograph, and includes contrasting Ebony Black End Papers. The 234 pages of text were all scanned from an original family biography and printed with black ink on GF Smith Strathmore Writing Wove Soft White 118gsm. We are super pleased with the result, as was our customer and their family.

From the customer:“My late father’s autobiography had lain unpublished for far too long. It had always been his and the family’s wish to see it printed. Colour Options made this dream come true. The original manuscript had been typed on fullscap paper and retained numerous handwritten notes. An early decision to publish it unedited and with marginalia to retain a sense of authenticity was taken. Colour Options advised us on an ¬†appropriate page size, which in turn suggested a hardback treatment with end papers. A portrait of my father by Douglas Glass was chosen for the front cover, and the interior brings to life the extraordinary story of my father.

“Despite attempts to interest a publishing house in the 1960s, none had been successful. Current printing technologies mean many others’ stories can now be published in smaller runs. Initially, only five copies of “The A.B. of F.B” have been made for the immediate family, yet the outer appearance of the book suggests a mainstream publication plucked from the Biography shelves of a bookshop jostling with others.”
