Binding and folding can make all the difference to a final design aesthetic. From contrasting Singer sewing and saddle stitching, to wire, screw or case bound, and even bespoke finishes, we’re constantly coming-up with new binding & folding techniques to ensure they perfectly compliment the print.

Our quick guide to binding:

Saddle-stitching

The printer’s term for stapling. Starting with as little as eight pages, this form of binding is suitable for brochures made of the same weight sheets inside and out, as well as those that have a thicker cover and thinner inside text pages. Choose from standard silver or copper stitching wire.

Perfect/PUR Binding

We offer both PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) and standard EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) for perfect bound brochures. PUR glue is the most durable binding glue available, offering design flexibility for any number of applications, including catalogues, brochures, books, instruction manuals and art books. PUR allows us to successfully bind materials which would have not been previously possible using standard glues.

Wire Binding

Wire binding is ideal for documents, reports and instruction manuals. The book will open flat at 180 degrees to keep the open document to the page size. Wire bound documents are punched on the edge and can allow for tabbed or folded sections to be collated in. Available up-to A3 portrait or landscape, with a choice of wire shades plus options for Half Canadian or Full Canadian styles.

Screw Bound

Using nickel or brass binding screws of varying depths to bind the brochure or report by drilling the sheets, creasing the covers and fastening with binding screws. Also ideal for creating swatches with a single binding screw in a corner.

Case Binding

Case bound books can be covered using printed paper or choose from a vast range of cloths and materials to enhance the feel of the book. All materials can be foiled or screen printed to make your book really stand out. Book inner text pages are either PUR bound or section sewn, with end papers applied before being cased into the book cover.

Singer Sewing

Ideal for binding books and brochures that have a small page extent. Choose from a large selection of coloured thread to match a corporate palette or clash the colours to achieve stand out. Singer sewing can be completed on the side or along the centre fold.

Layflat Binding

A revolutionary technique which allows print to flow seamlessly across a double page spread. Books and brochures lay completely flat once opened, allowing for uninterrupted print across the jointed sections. This binding method is perfect for displaying images at their full potential.

About folding:

Often underused, folding can be a creative way to get more out of your budget, as you can create a booklet format in a single sheet. We offer all the standard industry folds, but do talk to us about folding as the options are endless.
